Level 1: Build a foundation and set ambitions

Ted Baker has maintained its policies and processes to monitor labour standards within its supply chain. Its strategy remains underpinned by Ted Baker’s Code of Conduct (CoC) which upholds the International Labour Organization (ILO) conventions and the UN Declaration on Human Rights. Additionally, in 2016 Ted Baker updated its Factory Ethical Trade strategy to reflect legislative changes, in particular the introduction of the UK Modern Slavery Act. Ted Baker continues to document its process for ensuring it has communicated its CoC to all of its suppliers. These foundational activities have resulted in a level 1 score of 91%.

Level 2: Make steady progress

Ted Baker has improved at this level this year. Ted Baker has continued investing in training commercial teams on labour standards and has formally assigned accountability to senior management. Furthermore, Ted Baker has advanced its compliance monitoring improving the way they record compliance levels of their factories including the number of major or critical issues. There remains room for Ted Baker to extend its training to all of it suppliers, resulting in a score of 71% for level 2.

Level 3: Adopt best practice

Ted Baker has taken steps to achieve best practice and has a process to track homeworkers in its supply chain. There remains scope for Ted Baker to further support the improvements of labour standards by extending their human rights risk mapping and developing areas such as calculation of the living wage. These activities have results in a level 3 score of 11%.
